Subject: Council Support for Anderson Application to
Dakota County's Farmland and Natural Areas Grant Program

A RESOLUTION STATING THE CITY'S SUPPORT FOR THE DAKOTA COUNTY FARMLAND AND NATURAL AREAS GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE ANDERSON PARCEL

WHEREAS the Lee and Laurel Anderson property is a valuable open space asset to the City of Eagan; and

WHEREAS the Anderson parcel is part of the Eagan Core Greenway, which signifies an important local wildlife corridor and regional eco-system;

WHEREAS it is the desire of the Eagan City Council to see the Anderson parcel preserved for future generations; and

WHEREAS the City Council on March 4, 2003 committed to a 20% project match (from the Parks Site Acquisition Fund) in the amount of $180,000, for the preservation of the Anderson parcel.

WHEREAS the Eagan City Council listed the pursuit of future green space initiatives as a 2003 City Council goal; and

WHEREAS the Trust for Public Land, in partnership with Friends of Patrick Eagan Park, is applying for grant funding through Dakota County;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Eagan, that the City of Eagan supports the Dakota County Farmland and Natural Area grant application of Trust for Public Land in order to assist in the preservation of the Anderson parcel.
