Neighbors around Carriage Hills Golf Course in Eagan will meet this week to share information and strategize as they fight the possible sale and development of the course.

The Carriage Hills Coalition, a community group with a stated goal of preserving open space and preventing high-density development, will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria of Faithful Shepherd School, 3355 Columbia Drive, Eagan.

The coalition plans to circulate a petition at the meeting. The petition reads: "We the citizens would like Carriage Hills Golf Course to remain zoned as a public facility. We are opposed to any housing development on the 120-acre property."

Wensmann Homes has a purchase agreement to buy the golf course, contingent on the City Council rezoning the land for housing. The golf course is on Yankee Doodle Road east of Interstate 35E and west of Lexington Avenue. Wensmann officials plan a mix of housing for the site, such as condos, town homes and single-family residences.
